Redesignation Ceremony, Austin, Texas February 3, 2006 - FMT, Inc. attended and sponsored the Central Texas Clean Cities' Redesignation Ceremony at Green Pastures Restaurant. Clean Cities is an initiative started by the US Department of Energy whose mission is "to advance the nation's economic, environmental and energy security by supporting local decisions to adopt practices that contribute to the reduction of petroleum consumption." The event brought together several businesses and government offices who are dedicated to this purpose and deemed “Stakeholders.” The Central Texas Clean Cities Coalition is comprised of more than 50 stakeholders representing Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis and Williamson Counties. These entities each signed a pledge that they would support the Clean Cities' mission. Central Texas Clean Cities is one of more than 80 volunteer coalitions that develop public and private partnerships to promote alternative fuels and vehicles, fuel blends, fuel economy, hybrid vehicles, and idle reduction. Since 1993, Clean Cities coalitions have steadily increased the number of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) on our nation's highways, with gains averaging around 15% in recent years.
